U Zaw Zaw Aye

Mr. Zaw Zaw Aye is the Executive Vice President of SEAFCO Public Company Limited, Bangkok, which together with its subsidiaries, is a leading public listed company specializing in deep foundations, deep excavation, geotechnical engineering and civil works in Thailand and internationally. He is also Managing Director of SEAFCO (Myanmar) Co., Ltd. He has over 25 years of extensive international experience in technical and management role in design, supervision and construction of underground excavations, bored pile foundations and tunneling projects. He is an active member of American Society of Civil Engineers and a Fellow of the Geological Society of London.
Mr. Zaw Zaw Aye is a well-recognized alumnus of the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) where he obtained his Master’s Degree from Geotechnical and Transportation Engineering, School of Civil Engineering in 1991, following his B.Sc. in Geology from Yangon University. Apart from his role as a practitioner in geotechnical, foundation engineering and project management, he is active in academic and professional societies. Mr. Zaw Zaw Aye authored over 50 international publications including peer-reviewed papers which he has presented in many international conferences and seminars. He regularly gives special lectures in universities including to Master’s Program students in the Asian Institute of Technology on deep foundations, deep excavations and geotechnical instrumentation.
Apart from being a keynote speaker in various international conferences, Mr. Aye plays leading role in organising international conferences and seminars in Myanmar and Thailand – he was a Secretary General of the World Tunnel Congress 2012 in Bangkok
Mr. Zaw Zaw Aye is currently serving as an Advisor to the Thailand Underground and Tunnelling Group of the Engineering Institute of Thailand under his Majesty the King’s Patronage. He is also a Vice Chairman of Myanmar Tunnelling and Underground Space Committee of Myanmar Engineering Society. Mr. Aye is an appointed expert to the Executive Council of International Tunnelling and Underground Space Association (ITA). He is a member of Myanmar Steering Committee of the Eisenhower Fellowship Programme. In 2007, he was awarded the AIT Distinguished Alumnus Award for Business & Professional Achievement, December 2007.
