U Kyaw Zin Win is a Director at Imago Global Co. Ltd., the leading geospatial solution provider in Myanmar, which has a track record of supporting natural resource mapping, disaster relief, environmental studies, and electrification planning using latest information technologies and geospatial capabilities for over a decade. He is also Director at Resource & Environment Myanmar Co. Ltd., a leading resource and environmental consultancy services company, and Director of the Myanmar Environment Institute, an educational institute for environmental science and sustainable development.
U Kyaw Zin Win’s has over 20 years’ experience working in geotechnical sciences and geospatial consultancies, including the application of geographic information systems and remote sensing to mineral exploration, environmental impact assessments. Some major projects are shown below:
• Pollution source survey for JICA’s database development project for capacity development in EIA, management of water resources and the environment,
• Building disaster and climate resilient cities in ASEAN, a JICA-funded project, which includes land use and development issues, hazard mapping and disaster prevention. • Hanthawady Airport project, the new airport project for Yangon region, which includes plans for compensation and resettlement of affected communities.
• The Myanmar National Electrification Plan (NEP), funded by the World Bank, including training and the use of geospatial applications for electrification planning parameters.
• Land Inventory Mapping for Thilawa Special Economic Zone Phase-I, funded by JICA,
• Multi-Hazard Risk Assessment, for the Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC), including hazard assessment and mapping of hazard –prone areas of Rakhine State.
• Mineral exploration as the GIS geologist with Ivanhoe Mines, in Myanmar, Thailand, and Philippines.
U Kyaw Zin Win has a Master of Science in Geographic Information Science & Systems from the University of Salzburg, A Bachelor of Science from Yangon University, a Diploma in Geographic Information Systems from Yangon University. He is a Member of the Society of Economic Geologists (M-SEG), the international organization based in Colorado, USA.
