Call for Papers MAESA 2017: Breaking New Frontiers

2 – 3 November 2017


Our international conference MAESA 2017 is for partners interested in Myanmar’s opening up, the sustainable development of its mineral and energy resources, and the strengthening of institutional capacities in earth sciences. MAESA 2017 is the Inaugural Conference of the Myanmar Applied Earth Sciences Association (MAESA), a dynamic new organization that focuses on expanding Myanmar’s collaboration with international, national and local partners. MAESA 2017 will provide opportunities to network, understand and initiate partnerships across and within sectors, and exchange views with a range of stakeholders. Beginning on 2 November 2017, MAESA 2017 will have two days of technical sessions in Yangon, with the option of a field trip to Mandalay region and the Shan State.

We invite you to submit your work for presentation at MAESA 2017. This may be in the form of oral presentations or posters/exhibits, addressing one of the following themes:

  1. Applied Tectonics and Gondwana dispersion
  2. Environmental sustainability
  3. Mineral Resources and Safety in Mining
  4. Genesis of Ore Deposits and Exploration
  5. Sedimentary Basin & Reservoir: Characterization & Modeling
  6. Marine Geology and Oceanography
  7. Engineering Geology and Geophysics
  8. Applied Mineralogy and Gem Deposits
  9. Geohazards and Disaster Management

MAESA welcomes both academic and industrial contributions on any of these themes.

To submit proposals for presentations of your work, please register for the Conference on our registration page where registration fees and the registration form are posted. Please fill out the presentation section of the registration form. The important dates are as follows:

  1. Last date for submission of Abstracts: Saturday 30 September, 2017.
  2. Abstract accepted date: 10 October 2017.
